Sunshine S.P.O.T. is in network with Sunshine State Medicaid, Children's Medical Services, and Florida Kidcare.
We also accept the following insurances that have out-of-network benefits for speech, physical, or occupational therapy: Aetna, AvMed, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Florida Blue, Health First Commercial Plans, Humana, Oscar Insurance Company of Florida, Step Up For Students Scholarship, and UnitedHealthcare.
If your insurance does not cover our therapeutic services, we offer a cash pay option. Contact our office for more information.

We require at least 24-48 hours' notice for cancellations to avoid a late fee. Late cancellations or no-shows are subject to a $35 fee, and consistent missed appointments may result in being placed on a waitlist or discharged.

You will be billed for services at the time they are provided, with your bill showing the total charges, insurance payments, and what you owe, like copayments, coinsurance, or deductibles. If you are uninsured or self-pay, you should receive a "good faith estimate" and may be billed the full amount unless you have a different payment plan.

Yes, an initial evaluation is required before new services can begin. An evaluation helps determine if the services are needed and are appropriate for the individual's specific needs.

In-home and teletherapy offer greater accessibility and convenience. Telehealth is also helpful for those with mobility issues or for children who live in remote areas. For in-home therapy, advantages are that the child is in a familiar setting and that it encourages families to participate in the therapy sessions. Additionally, therapists are able to observe the child's behaviors in their natural environment.

There is no set timeline for how long a child will need therapy; it varies based on their individual needs, the issues being addressed, and the goals of treatment. Some children may benefit from a few months of therapy, while others may need a longer-term approach. A therapist will work with you to assess your child's progress and discuss the timeline for treatment.

You can tell if your child needs speech-language, feeding, physical, or occupational therapy by observing specific signs related to their communication, movement, and daily tasks. Look for signs like difficulties with articulation or understanding language (speech-language), difficulties with chewing and swallowing (feeding), trouble with balance and gross motor coordination (physical), or problems with fine motor skills like eating with utensils or coloring (occupational). When in doubt, consult your child's pediatrician or schedule an evaluation with us.

Yes, a child can receive therapy from an outside provider in addition to services they receive at school.

Yes, your child can still receive private therapy even if they did not qualify for early intervention or school-based services. Private therapy is an option for children of any age. Private practitioners are not restricted by the same guidelines as public schools, so they can treat a wider range of children.
