    • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology

    • Associate's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or a related field, including specific coursework in human growth and development, speech-language disorders, and basic audiometry.

    Additionally, you will need to practice under the direct supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist and comply with all Florida state requirements.

    • Graduate from an ACOTE-accredited Associate's degree program

    • Pass the NBCOT COTA certification exam

    • Florida state license

    • Pass a criminal background check

    Additionally, you will need to practice under the direct supervision of a licensed occupational therapist and comply with all Florida state requirements.

    • Associate's degree from an accredited program

    • Pass the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE)

    • Licensed by the Florida Board of Physical Therapy

    • Pass a criminal background check

    Additionally, you will need to practice under the direct supervision of a licensed physical therapist and comply with all Florida state requirements.

Education & Qualifications

    • Evaluate children ages 0-21

    • Diagnose and treat communication and swallowing disorders

    • Develop individualized treatment plans

    • Document skilled services

    • Evaluate children ages 0-21

    • Develop individualized treatment plans

    • Help clients develop or recover skills needed for daily living

    • Document skilled services

    • Evaluate children ages 0-21

    • Create and implement individualized treatment plans

    • Use exercises and manual techniques to improve mobility, reduce pain, and restore function

    • Implement treatment plans and provide direct therapy services for clients under the supervision of a licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP)

    • Implement treatment plans and provide direct therapy services for clients under the supervision of a licensed occupational therapist (OT)

Frequently Asked Questions About being a part of the sunshine s.p.o.t. team

  • We have been voted The Best Pediatric Practice in the state of Florida multiple times!

  • Our patients are medically fragile infants, children, and adolescents.

  • A full-time therapist is contracted to treat 25-30 patient hours per week. Therapists who treat over 40 patient hours are eligible for overtime pay.

  • You are in full control of creating and maintaining your schedule.

  • If you work in our PPEC setting, you will work with an interdisciplinary team of SLPs, PTs, OTs, Physicians, and Nurses.

  • Treatment notes are due within 48 hours of the treatment session and evaluations/re-evaluations are due within 10 days of completing the assessments.

  • Yes, you may become a supervisor for assistants, an instructor for students, take advanced training classes, take on leadership roles and management roles. and more!
